Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. Some main points I read in this article include: adjusting photos can decrease credibility, many newspapers do photoshop/manipulate photos, the time it takes to photoshop has decreased, manipulating photos has been a thing since the invention of the camera, anyone can be apart of the news due to social media, any photo can be added to "news", and that the rules of photography ethics is always changing.

B. Some newspapers, like the New York Times or the Washington Post, give photographers strict guidelines on how to edit and shoot their photos, they want their photos to be credible and accurate. All photographers must turn in proofs with their final product for their photos to be published.

C. I think that cropping a photo and adding depth to a photo for commercial use is ok. I don't think that editing someones body or cropping someone/something in/out of a photo is acceptable; it not only is unethical, it is rude and hurtful to someone's image of themselves or someone else.

D.

I personally think that this photo is very unethical, it is so cruel to photoshop someone to make them look "prettier", it also is not what is real. This photo not only promotes an unhealthy standard for news reporters and people, it is also probably making this women feel ugly and flawed.

E.
To be completely honest, I don't really understand why this photo is considered unethical. Yes, I know that the color was edited but what is the big deal? Personally, I think that this alteration only added to the beauty of this photo.
